Don’t you want to get into museums or churches? Experience Florence like a local with a local. Piazza, Palazzo, and Mercato all put together.
A journey of discovery that few tourists ever get to experience.…
Duration: 2 Hours
This tour runs with several departures in the day depending on the season.
Our time together starts at the famous Santa Trinita bridge, designed originally by Michelangelo. From here we will take in a 360° view of the city, huddling along the Arno river.
We will gaze at the beautiful Ponte Vecchio (the “Old Bridge”, also called the bridge of goldsmiths) and look for Ponte Alla Carraia in the opposite direction whilst learning how the Arno shaped the city and the life of its inhabitants throughout the centuries.
After posing for a photo or two, we will walk in the direction of the Oltrarno (meaning “on the other side of the Arno”) which has been home to a resilient community of artisans for approximately five hundred years. The area is characterized by narrow medieval streets hosting small workshops representing some of the most historic enterprises in the city.
We will walk by the majestic Palazzo Pitti where your expert guide will disclose information about the history of the palace and of the Medici family who acquired it from the Pitti family in the Sixteenth Century. ( Inside visit of the palace is not included)
Wandering through narrow streets we will reach Piazza Santo Spirito, dominated by Brunelleschi’s Basilica.
For the last part of our tour, we will sit down and taste 2 or 3 types of Tuscan wines. In the company of a wine expert, we will learn Tuscan varietals and appreciate their differences. This is also a great time to discuss Florentine customs and traditions as well as taking advantage of your local guide to enquire about dinner recommendations and things not to miss during your stay.
