Stroll through the streets of Rome at sunset
Visit iconic piazzas and monuments
Learn about Rome’s culture, history and art
Enjoy small groups of up to 12 people maximum led by a local expert
There is no doubt that one of the best ways to appreciate the Eternal City is by walking her streets and piazzas as the sunset light warmly embraces palaces and fountains before night falls. This is also the way locals do it, i.e. a leisurely passeggiata (Italian for a relaxed stroll) in the historic center at the end of a busy day.
During this 2.5 hour tour, we will connect with the city at her most glorious time. Our local expert will introduce Rome’s culture, history, art and how these relate to century-long traditions and to the day-to-day rhythm of the city.
We will start from Piazza del Popolo, with its obelisk and monumental gate. For many centuries this square provided the first glimpse of Rome to travelers coming from the North. Here we will climb up the Pincio terrace (5-10 min. easy walk) to admire the spectacular view of the square and the city beyond. Then we will proceed towards the Spanish steps, with its monumental staircase and Baroque fountain right in the heart of Rome’s high-end fashion district. Our next stop will be the best preserved ancient building in Rome: the Pantheon. We will admire this feat of ancient engineering, whilst our expert discloses key information to understand its historical importance and context. We will approach our last stop, Piazza Navona, with the spectacular Baroque fountain by Gianlorenzo Bernini, as we watch street performers get ready for a bustling nightlife.
During our time together your expert will make sure to point out opportunities for a quick bite, aperitivo or gelato.
This tour is highly recommended for first timers or for those returning visitors who wish to familiarize with the city once again. It is led by an experienced, knowledgeable and friendly guide to a small group of maximum of 12 people. It can also be booked as a private customizable tour.
We meet in Piazza del Popolo. At the bottom of the staircase leading to the church of Santa Maria del Popolo. Coming through Porta del Popolo the church is immediately on the left. Your guide will have a signboard that says Walks In Europe.
