Tour Rome at nightfall.

One of the best ways to appreciate the Eternal City is by walking its streets and piazzas just before nightfall, as the sunset light warmly embraces its palaces and fountains. This is also the way locals do it, by taking a leisurely passeggiata (Italian for a relaxed stroll) in the historic center at the end of a busy day.

During this 2-hour tour, we will connect with the city at her most glorious hour. Our local expert will introduce Rome’s culture, history, and art as the sun turns the streets orange and gold. They will tie these themes into century-long traditions and to the day-to-day rhythm of the modern city.

Start from Piazza del Popolo, with its obelisk and monumental gate. For many centuries, this square provided the first glimpse of Rome to travelers coming from the North. Climb up to the Pincio terrace (a 5-10 minute easy walk) to admire a spectacular view of the square and the city beyond. Then we will proceed towards the Spanish Steps, the famous monumental staircase, and the Baroque fountain right in the heart of Rome’s high-end fashion district.

Our next stop will be the best-preserved ancient building in Rome: the Pantheon. Admire this feat of ancient engineering, whilst your guide discloses key information needed to understand its historical importance and context. As the sun slips away and the stars began to sparkle above, we approach our last stop, Piazza Navona. See street performers gearing up for a busy night near the spectacular Baroque fountain realized by Gianlorenzo Bernini.

During our time together, your expert will make sure to point out opportunities for a quick bite, aperitivo or gelato.

Book this tour if you are a first-timer or a returning visitor who wishes to familiarize yourself with the city once again. Choose a small group tour for an intimate experience, or customize it even more with a private tour.
