Walk the Mahane Yehuda market in Jerusalem with a local gourmet guide. Jerusalem is endlessly fascinating. This is a perfect tour to understand the Middle East and Israel’s everyday life. What do locals do everyday? Where do they eat? What kind of food do they cook? Where do they meet their neighbours?
For the locals many stalls sell fruit and vegetables but they can also buy fish, olives, nuts and meat. On Thursdays and Fridays, the marketplace is filled with shoppers stocking up for Shabbat, until the Friday afternoon sounding of the bugle that signifies the market will close for the Sabbath.
In recent years, the ‘shuk’ has emerged as another Jerusalemic nightlife center, with restaurants, bars and live music.
As with all of our other culinary tours, we do recommend that you do this tour at the beginning of your stay ( especially so if you’re self catering) in order to know what to do next.
